The portion of separation, and the oneness hidden within it

Se houvesse uma única palavra para este Shabat, o Zohar usaria v'et'palig, "separar" (raiz פ־ל־ג). Toda oposição, todo ódio, toda guerra e todo sofrimento do mundo têm aí sua raiz, que remonta ao segundo dia da Criação, a primeira separação.

If there were a single word for this Shabbat, the Zohar would use v'et'palig, "to separate" (root פ־ל־ג). Every opposition, every hatred, every war, and all the world's suffering has its root here, tracing back to the second day of Creation, the first separation.

Mas a Torah não está contando uma história de separação, está nos despertando para a reunificação. Dentro deste Shabat de separação está escondida a grande Luz da unidade. É por isso que este é um Shabat mundial: nele se desperta tanto a raiz de toda fratura quanto, mais importante, a cura dela.

But the Torah isn't telling a story of separation, it's awakening us to reunification. Hidden inside this Shabbat of separation is the great Light of oneness. That's why this is a world Shabbat: it awakens both the root of every fracture and, more importantly, its cure.

Por que Korach veio até Moshe

Why Korach came for Moshe

Moshe dedicava cada dia e cada noite a compartilhar, apoiar e amar os israelitas. E Korach se levanta diante de todos, o ataca, e cria uma revolta total. Por quê?

Moshe dedicated every day and every night to sharing, supporting, and loving the Israelites. And Korach rises up in front of everyone, attacks him, and creates a total revolt. Why?

Porque o propósito da vida de Moshe era abrir, para toda a humanidade, o Derech Etz haChayim, o caminho de volta à Árvore da Vida. E não se pode percorrer esse caminho sem correção. Portanto, como ensinam o Zohar e Rabeinu Bachya, todos os problemas fundamentais do mundo tinham que vir até ele para serem corrigidos. Korach não era um inimigo aleatório, era o canal que trazia a falha fundamental da humanidade, a separação, para que Moshe a corrigisse.

Because Moshe's life purpose was to open, for all of humanity, the Derech Etz haChayim, the path back to the Tree of Life. And that path can't be walked without correction. So, as the Zohar and Rabeinu Bachya teach, every fundamental problem in the world had to come to him to be corrected. Korach wasn't a random enemy, he was the channel bringing humanity's fundamental flaw, separation, so Moshe could correct it.

As três formas de encarar um desafio

The three ways to face a challenge

Quando o caos, o problema ou a pessoa difícil entra em nossa vida, há três consciências possíveis:

When chaos, a problem, or a difficult person enters our life, there are three possible mindsets:

Não-espiritual: "Ai, meu Deus, por que isto está acontecendo?"
Um pouco espiritual: "Não sei por que preciso passar por isto, mas deixe-me usar as ferramentas para atravessar a escuridão.", Michael diz: esta ainda é a consciência errada.
A consciência profunda: "Qual é o meu propósito? Estou abrindo meu caminho de volta à Árvore da Vida, e este desafio é exatamente o que minha alma precisa corrigir."

Not spiritual: "Oh my god, why is this happening?"
A little spiritual: "I don't know why I need to go through this, but let me use the tools to get through the darkness.", Michael says: this is still the wrong consciousness.
The deep consciousness: "What's my purpose? I'm opening my way back to the Tree of Life, and this challenge is exactly what my soul needs to correct."

Os problemas da sua alma precisam voltar para você. Não é a próxima pessoa irritante a quem você simplesmente "não dará atenção", é precisamente o que você veio corrigir.

Your soul's problems need to come back to you. It's not the next annoying person you'll simply "not give attention to", it's precisely what you came to correct.

Idea 1, Living as part of the whole

A primeira das três ideias centrais: lembrar de nós mesmos e viver uma vida que é parte do todo, não uma existência separada. A história da Torah não é um livro histórico, é o processo da humanidade. O grande Kabalista italiano Rav Moshe Chaim Luzzatto explica que tudo começou no Jardim do Éden, quando o Criador prometeu, através de Adão: conecte-se à Etz haChayim, à Árvore da Vida, e você viverá para sempre, não apenas fisicamente, mas em abundância constante da Luz do Criador.

The first of three central ideas: remembering ourselves and living a life that is part of the whole, not a separate existence. The Torah's story isn't a history book, it's humanity's process. The great Italian kabbalist Rav Moshe Chaim Luzzatto explains it all began in the Garden of Eden, when the Creator promised, through Adam: connect to Etz haChayim, the Tree of Life, and you will live forever, not just physically, but in constant abundance of the Creator's Light.

Idea 2, From Yesh to Ayin: cleaning the window

Na Kabbalah há duas palavras que explicam tudo: Yesh (יֵשׁ), o que existe, o ser; e Ayin (אַיִן), o nada. É o nada que nos conecta ao Infinito, à Luz infinita do Criador.

In Kabbalah there are two words that explain everything: Yesh (יֵשׁ), what exists, being; and Ayin (אַיִן), nothingness. It's the nothingness that connects us to the Infinite, to the Creator's infinite Light.

Imagine sua alma como uma janela. A cada "isto sou eu", a cada "esta bênção agora é minha", você cola mais um adesivo, mais uma mancha no vidro. No fim da vida, chas v'shalom, quase nenhuma Luz consegue passar. Moshe e Aharon eram as janelas mais limpas do mundo: a abundância brilhava através deles porque nunca pensaram que era deles.

Imagine your soul as a window. With every "this is me," every "this blessing is now mine," you stick another sticker, another smudge onto the glass. By the end of life, chas v'shalom, almost no Light can get through. Moshe and Aharon were the cleanest windows in the world: abundance shone through them because they never thought it was theirs.

Essa é a consciência de v'nachnu mah, "e o que somos nós?". O estado completo de Moshe e Aharon: não somos nada. E por isso toda a Luz pôde brilhar através deles para o mundo.

That's the consciousness of v'nachnu mah, "and what are we?" The complete state of Moshe and Aharon: we are nothing. And that's why all the Light could shine through them to the world.

Ideia 3, As faíscas espalhadas pelo mundo

Idea 3, The sparks scattered across the world

Antes de a alma vir a este mundo, recebemos dois presentes. O primeiro: nossa alma gêmea, originalmente uma só alma dividida em duas, e a vida é o reencontro. O segundo: antes de descer, temos toda a sabedoria, toda a consciência e todas as bênçãos de que precisamos.

Before the soul comes into this world, we receive two gifts. The first: our soul mate, originally a single soul divided in two, and life is the reunion. The second: before descending, we hold all the wisdom, all the consciousness, and all the blessings we need.

Mas ao entrarmos neste mundo, tudo isso nos é tirado e espalhado pelo mundo. Nosso trabalho é sair e recolher essas peças de sabedoria, essas faíscas de Luz espalhadas por toda parte. Cada pessoa, cada encontro, cada desafio pode conter uma faísca que é nossa para resgatar.

But upon entering this world, all of it is taken from us and scattered across the world. Our work is to go out and gather these pieces of wisdom, these sparks of Light scattered everywhere. Every person, every encounter, every challenge may hold a spark that's ours to rescue.

O Kotzker Rebe e a escada: continue pulando

The Kotzker Rebbe and the ladder: keep jumping

O grande Kabalista, o Kotzker Rebe, ensina que descemos a este mundo por uma escada. Uma vez aqui, guardamos a memória de onde precisamos voltar, a Árvore da Vida, mas a escada se foi. Então tentamos pular de volta.

The great kabbalist, the Kotzker Rebbe, teaches that we come down into this world by a ladder. Once here, we keep the memory of where we need to return, the Tree of Life, but the ladder is gone. So we try to jump back.

Algumas almas pulam 10 vezes e desistem. Outras, cem. Outras, mil, e desistem, caindo na realidade separada, escura e caótica. Somente quem pula todos os dias, o dia inteiro, pelo resto da vida, é elevado de volta pelo Criador à unidade, à Árvore da Vida, à Luz abundante para a qual viemos.

Some souls jump 10 times and give up. Others, a hundred. Others, a thousand, and give up, falling into the separate, dark, chaotic reality. Only those who jump every day, all day long, for the rest of their life, are lifted back by the Creator to oneness, to the Tree of Life, to the abundant Light we came for.
