Zohar Healing Meditation

One of the most powerful chapters of the Zohar, a spiritual map of the human body, the root of illness, and how the Light acts upon it.

Shimon Sarfati, teacher at the Kabbalah Centre, shared that this section of the Zohar is especially powerful to meditate on when someone in our community is facing illness. For those who are already sick, scanning and listening to these verses activates one of the deepest healing forces the Zohar offers.

This is a revelation by Rav Shimon Bar Yochai to his son, Rabbi Elazar. He unveils the hidden secret of the body's inner organs, each one mapped onto the spiritual system: organs are Sefirot, columns, angels, forces. A complete map of how the physical and spiritual bodies mirror each other.

At the close, the companions weep: when Rav Shimon departs, who will reveal secrets like these, unheard since the days of King Solomon? Happy is the generation that hears them.

The spiritual root of illness

The heart is fire, the Throne of Judgment. The brain is water, the Throne of Mercy. The heart burns with such intensity that, without what balances it, it would consume the entire world in an instant.

The root of all illness, according to the Zohar, lies in the unchecked Left Column, which in human life manifests as ego, anger, jealousy, and reactivity. These are the forces that "heat" the body and open the door to illness. The fever, heat, and inflammation in nearly every illness are the physical expression of this unbalanced inner fire.

"One who allows anger to rule is as if he worshipped idols."

Zohar · Pinchas · Ch. 68

How healing acts on the body

The lungs surround the heart like two wings. These wings carry the energy of two angels, Refael and Tzadkiel, the flow of Chassadim (mercy) that brings health and salvation. It is the cool wind of the lungs' wings that cools the burning heart.

The Zohar's image: "the wings of a dove covered in silver", silver is mercy covering judgment. What activates this healing wind is the voice of Torah and the reading of the Sh'ma, the Central Column, the balance between right and left.

When illness advances, the Shechinah wraps around the sick body the way sand surrounds the sea, holding back the waves, protecting the body from the fire so it does not destroy itself. It is the Light of the Shechinah that surrounds, sustains, and heals. Sharing this Light with those in need is what seals the defeat of the Angel of Death.

The map of organs, why scanning heals

The section walks through the body organ by organ. For each one, scanning and listening to the corresponding verses connects to the specific healing force:

How to meditate with this section

The verses appear in the video itself. No need to open any app, just follow with your eyes as the audio plays. The visual scanning of Hebrew letters acts on a deeper level than intellectual understanding: the Light works through the eyes.

As you scan, scroll down. The video follows you as a small picture-in-picture. See the Healing List just below and meditate on the names as the audio keeps playing, directing the Light of each verse to each person on the list.

When we meditate for another's healing and also desire that healing for ourselves, the Light becomes even more powerful. These are not two separate requests, they are one single movement of Light.

You can listen to this meditation upon waking, in the car, before sleeping, repetition deepens the connection.

    How we meditate for healing

The Hebrew letters Mem (מ), Hei (ה) and Shin (ש) release the force of healing. As the Zohar plays, meditate with them and send Light to each name on the list:

Mem-Hei-Shin (מהש), as letras da cura מהש · Mem-Hei-Shin, the letters of healing
    1. Visualize the three letters. Close your eyes and see Mem-Hei-Shin radiating beams of Light, bathing your entire body in a flow of white Light.
    2. Send it to those who need healing. Meditate on the person's name, or visualize Mem-Hei-Shin radiating Light over their body.
    3. Moshe, the channel of healing. These same letters, rearranged, form the name Moshe (Moses): מֹשֶׁה = מֹהֶשׁ.
    Special verse · Zohar Pinchas
    מֵעוֹלָם הוּא שְׁמֶךָ
    Me'olam Hu Shmecha
"It has always been His Name."

This special verse from Zohar Pinchas helps us amplify the healing energy. Meditate on it together with the letters Mem-Hei-Shin, as you send Light to the names on the list.

    The oldest healing prayer

El Na Refa Na La Meditation

Five words. The oldest healing prayer in the Torah, Moses's cry for his sister Miriam's healing: "God, please heal, please."

It is not a phrase to understand with the mind. It is a sound code, a healing vibration that acts at a level far deeper than thought. Our role is simple: show up and connect.

Let it play. In the car, upon waking, before sleeping. The more you listen, the more this healing sound becomes part of you. And as it plays, direct that Light to each name on the list above.
