Isso não é fingir que o corpo, um relacionamento ou um projeto não tem história. É reconhecer que a história não esgota o que existe hoje. O que envelhece é a nossa experiência. Por baixo dela, há um fluxo novo de Luz chegando neste instante.

This does not mean pretending that a body, relationship, or project has no history. It means recognizing that history does not exhaust what exists today. Our experience grows old. Beneath it, a new flow of Light is arriving at this moment.

The flow that never stops

Renovar não é criar alguma coisa do nada. A Luz do Criador já flui e renova todas as coisas. O problema começa quando as camadas de hábito, medo e memória escondem esse movimento, e passamos a viver apenas o que parece antigo.

Renewal does not mean creating something from nothing. The Creator's Light already flows through and renews all things. The problem begins when layers of habit, fear, and memory hide that movement, and we live only what appears old.

Michael Berg traz um ensinamento de Rav Ashlag sobre dia e noite. Dia é quando a vida parece fazer sentido. Noite é quando surgem falta, medo e situações que não conseguimos mudar. O objetivo do trabalho espiritual não é obrigar a noite a desaparecer.

Michael Berg brings a teaching from Rav Ashlag about day and night. Day is when life appears to make sense. Night is when lack, fear, and circumstances we cannot change arise. The purpose of spiritual work is not to force the night to disappear.

A oração central é pedir força para desenvolver certeza além da lógica. O fato externo pode ainda não ter mudado, mas a experiência começa a mudar quando reconhecemos que tudo vem da Luz e contém uma possibilidade de bem que ainda não enxergamos.

The central prayer is to ask for strength to develop certainty beyond logic. The external fact may not have changed yet, but experience begins to change when we recognize that everything comes from the Light and contains a possibility for good that we cannot yet see.

The work of Elul

Em Elul, fazemos teshuvá: olhamos para o ano, reconhecemos o que precisa mudar, pedimos perdão e criamos uma pequena abertura. Esse esforço importa, mas Michael Berg insiste que ele não realiza sozinho toda a transformação.

During Elul, we do teshuvah: we look back over the year, recognize what must change, ask forgiveness, and create a small opening. That effort matters, but Michael Berg insists that it does not accomplish the whole transformation by itself.

A abertura do tamanho do olho de uma agulha permite que a Luz faça o trabalho maior. Os Treze Atributos de Misericórdia representam canais pelos quais corre uma ajuda capaz de produzir correções que a mente e o esforço pessoal não alcançam sozinhos.

An opening the size of the eye of a needle allows the Light to do the greater work. The Thirteen Attributes of Mercy represent channels through which help can flow, producing corrections that the mind and personal effort cannot reach alone.
