The month with no festivals, where the Light of Tishrei must be revealed through our own work. The transformation of bitterness into sweetness.
New Moon of Scorpio · from Tuesday night to Thursday afternoon

Kabbalah teaches that Scorpio is the sign of deep transformation: the month in which we face our own turbulent inner waters, jealousy, fear, control, resentment, and choose to navigate them with Light, until we find the sweetness of certainty on the other side. The story of Noah tells of a flood that destroyed the physical world but purified the spiritual one; just as the world needed a reset, in this Ram Cheshvan we too receive the chance to begin again with awareness, clearing old emotions and patterns.
After seven intense weeks of elevation, from Elul to Simchat Torah, the Creator now steps back so we can stand spiritually on our own. This month's challenge is internalization: living as Light, not merely feeling it. It is certainty without evidence, the soul's most advanced muscle. And what many call emptiness or silence is, in fact, a quiet elevation: the time to anchor, without fanfare, all the Light we have gained.
According to the Sefer Yetzirah, each month of the year is governed by two Hebrew letters. Together, they reveal this Cheshvan's power of transformation and inner strength.
| Letter | Governs | Energy | Spiritual Work |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nun (נ) | Scorpio | Depth, rebirth | Transform pain into miracle |
| Dalet (ד) | Mars | Intensity, action, humility | Open the heart; channel fire with purpose |
Nun (נ) represents falling (nefilah) and miracle (nes), two extremes of the same energy. It is the letter of rebirth: falling and rising, dying to the old and being reborn into the new. Dalet (ד) symbolizes a door, marking the passage from judgment to mercy, from ego to giving; it comes from dal, "poor", the state of one who empties themselves to receive the Light.
| Aspect | Elevated Form | Challenged Form | Correction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intensity | Focus, commitment, passion | Jealousy, control | Direct the energy toward growth |
| Depth | Search for truth, spiritual penetration | Obsession, mistrust | Choose trust over fear |
| Emotion | Compassion, empathy | Revenge, resentment | Turn reaction into compassion |
| Silence | Inner strength | Isolation | Use silence for reflection, not withdrawal |
| Moment | Practice | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Morning | "The Light of Tishrei now flows through my actions today. Even if I feel nothing, I am surrounded by the Creator's presence." | Anchor the day's intention |
| Evening | Ask yourself: where did I reveal Light today through restraint or compassion? Did I turn any reaction into sharing? What truth about myself did I face with courage? | Reflection and integration |
| Nun Meditation | Visualize the Hebrew letter Nun, rising like a wave curving into Light, a symbol of falling transformed into miracle. Whisper: "From every fall, I rise." | Transform pain into rebirth |
"I remain between worlds, the Light I received and the life I live. I walk through Scorpio's silence with certainty. What was hidden reveals itself through my actions. I am the rain of Cheshvan, Light made tangible."
May we use this Ram Cheshvan to sustain the Light even when it seems hidden, turning every emotional test into compassion, and every moment of silence into elevation. Shavua Tov.
